Nepal is struggling with electricity crisis these days. Starting from 6 hours power-cut, now the country is planning a 108 hrs. load-shedding regime for every day. This unintensional disruption of the services is likely to continue till the coming rainy season.
Lack of good vision and strong commitment for sustainable investment is still a constraint to the overall development of the country. Since the electricity is the basic infrastruture for industrial growth and forein investment, the news is surely a discouraging factor.
However, the government is trying to overcome the scarcity about 10% of the current gap. But it may take more than 2-3 months even if the government executes its commitment at 100% success rate.
The global effect of climate change and warming is also onle of the factors contributing for the present power-scarcity in nepal. However, there is should be no excuse to the rulers and policy makers who decided haphazardly in the past during the planning process.
