Village Tourism Day Celebrated in Nepal

Nepal offers 1008 tourism products and activities that include Mt. Everest and Lumbini. It was mentioned by a an expert in Nepal during a program organized to celebrate the Village Tourism Day in Nepal. The violability of village tourism is seen a good potential and resource for development of Nepal. However, it is mentioned that the village tourism is possible only if the business and services are based on the rural products and employment and not through use of imported goods and manpower. Nepal Tourism Board is the leading governmental organization which coordinates and guides the stakeholders working in tourism sector. So far, there is very little resource is invested by government to promote the village tourism in Nepal with exception of a few efforts. In this connection, ideas and incentives are very important at local level with some kind of support from government.

A new threat to bio-diversity in Nepal

The history of wildlife trade runs back several centuries. But illegal trade in wildlife, particularly those of the endangered species has increased in the recent past. In addition to traditional animals, trading in plant species, medicinal plant, and gene piracy has emerged as new sectors for the bio-pirates, mainly in bio-diversity rich tropical and sub-tropical regions like Sri-Lanka, Nepal, India, Latin America and Costa-Rica. In the case on Nepal, most of the highlands areas and some part of the lowland areas are highly diverse in bio-resources.

The number of flowering species in the world is over 250000 while in Nepal, there is almost 10000 species of plants. Nepal is home to over 4.37 % of mammals and 8.5 % of bird species in proportion with the total world species.

The value of Nepali wildlife for agriculture, scientific experimentation, ornaments, medicine industry has also enhanced the country’s image. Besides, Nepal has identified at least 1463 flowering species for medical purposes. For the above-mentioned reasons, Nepal has become a major target of animal and plant hunters around the world. It has been revealed that commercial exploitation is the second biggest threat to survival of wild species.

A Pocket Tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square

A succession of kings built and elaborated on the main royal palace here, which gave it the name "Durbar" or palace, Square. The area flourished in the 16-17th century, the "Golden Age" of the Kathmandu Valley, when the Malla rulers of the three neighboring city-states of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur waged artistic warfare to see who could built the most splendid monuments. Any innovation in one was quickly copied by the other kings, a competition that explains the similarities between the three cities Durbar Squares.

Today, modern life is interwoven with the historical past, flowing in, out and around the royal monuments in a steady stream. Children play at the feet of fierce guardian lion images and fly kites from the steps of 300-year-old temples, while a parade of passersby, from honking taxis to barefoot porters, crosses the square. There is much hidden history in Durbar Square too, things visible to the eye which conceal their meaning from all but those who know it intimately.

You can enjoy by visiting/seeing the following prominent sites among many others:
· New Road (old and new downtown)
· Basantapur Tower
· Basantapur Square
· Kumari Bahal (The Temple of Living Goddess)
· Kashthamandap Temple
· Maru Ganesh Temple
· Shiva Temple
· Shiva-Parvati Temple
· Gaddhi Baithak (The Palace with an European Style Facade)
· Hanuman Dhoka (The Main Entrance to the Old Palace)
· Statue of King Pratap Malla
· Jagannath Temple
· Degu Taleju Temple

Pashupatinath

The Pashupati Area is immensely important – it is the holiest pilgrimage site for Hindus, a unique heritage site for archaeology enthusiasts, and a charming and lively site for protectors and promoters of religion and culture. It is famous all over the world due to the existence of the temple of Lord Pashupatinath and the many other temples, stupas, monasteries that it contains. Any tourist visiting Kathmandu should not overlook the opportunity to step into this most fascinating area. The huge and the gorgeous temple of Lord Pashupatinath is situated on the Bagmati river at a distance of 4.8 kilometers northeast of the heart of the city of Kathmandu.
From time immemorial, the Pashupati area has contained numerous temples, stupas, monasteries, images, and inscriptions. Not only is the Pashupati area a pilgrimage site for the Hindus, it is also recognized as a world heritage site–an important cultural treasury for the whole world.

Various studies have revealed that the temple of Pashupatinath was built by a Lichhavi king, Supushpadeva, who is believed to have reigned some time during the sixth century BC. The Gopalraj Vamsavali describes Supushpadeva as a religious, lawful, and creative king.
The various inscriptions suggest that even in ancient times the fame of the temple had spread far and wide, especially to India. Indian kings and their subjects, and the sadhu-santa (ascetics) came in great numbers to pay homage to Lord Pashupatinath.

The temple of Lord Pashu-patinath stands in the center of an open courtyard surrounded by numerous other temples. There are four entrances on all sides of the temple. However, only Hindus may enter the temple. The Hindus of the Indian sub-continent have such an immense faith in Lord Pashupatinath that they believe their going to the "four dhams" (pilgrimage sites) of Dwarika, Kedar, Rameswar, and Jaganath would be meaningless without making a final trip to Pashupatinath.

Because of its religious, cultural, archaeological and natural aspects, the Pashupati area is an invaluable asset to Nepal. The importance of this area is not confined to the concerns of only the Nepalese people and the Hindus, but has also become a subject of interest to the world. And, because it is recognized as a world heritage site, its protection and promotion has the highest degree of importance.

General Information on Nepal and Chitwan National Park

Nepal is a land of extreme contrasts in climate and geography, It has a unique topography ranging from lowlands with sub-tropical jungles to arctic conditions in the Himalayan highlands. Within a mere 150 kilometers the land rises from near sea level in the south to over 8000 meters in the North. This, together with the monsoon rainfall along the south facing slopes, has resulted in compacting virtually all climate zones found on planet Earth. As a result, Nepal has been endowed with a great diversity of life-zones providing a home for a large variety of plants, birds and animals.

The Terai lowlands are defined by a belt of well-watered floodplains stretching from the Indian border northward to the first slopes of the Bhabhar and the Siwalik Range. This is the richest habitat in the land with tall grasslands interspersed with riverine and hardwood sal forest .

Chitwan National Park in the Inner Terai of central Nepal is the first and best protected area in the kingdom. Once, one of the most famous big game hunting areas in Asia. Chitwan now offers protection to a large array of mammals such as the. one-horned rhinoceros, tiger, leopard, sloth bear and the gaur (wild bison) as well as more than 400 species of birds.

Online Travel Agencies: cFares encourages to book tickets online

The information below is based on the homepage of cFares regarding online bookings

Online Travel Agencies

If you're looking for discount flights for your trip, you need online booking through a reliable agency. cFares may be one of them. cFares cliams that using cAgent, their exclusive name-your-itinerary airfare finder, they can search high and low for the exact itinerary you want at the exact price you request until they find it. When they do find your exact itinerary and matching price, they notify you immediately and reserve the tickets for you for a full 24 hours. When you're notified, they'll tell you the exact airline, flight, and seat before you buy. Other travel sites (like Priceline) make you purchase the tickets first before you're informed about what airline, flight, and seat you have. Don't book your flight in the dark. cFares recommends to use cAgent to find the flights you need at prices you can afford.

Benefits and Disadvantages of Online Travel Agencies

Once upon a time...Before the dawn of the information super highway, brick-and-mortar travel agencies were the key to booking travel arrangements and finding deals on airfare. These agencies helped travelers plan trips and book flights, hotel and car rental reservations, and other travel necessities. But as the Internet started to dominate all areas of commerce, travelers began to turn to online travel agencies instead of the brick-and-mortars. These "virtual" agencies offered all the travel planning options and discounts conventional travel agencies offered without requiring travelers to leave their home. No longer did travelers need to make appointments and meet face-to-face with a travel agent just to make travel arrangements. There was now a convenient online solution to booking travel arrangements and finding discounts on airfare.

Reality Check

Online travel agencies haven't completely decimated the conventional brick-and-mortar shops. Traditional travel agencies still do a great deal of business with travelers and are one viable solution to booking travel arrangements. However, as busy as our lives can be, online travel agencies do offer a quick and convenient solution to finding airline tickets without taking you away from home, or even work - and the brick-and-mortar shops realize this. Some conventional agencies are also hitting the web and establishing travel websites to cater to those individuals looking to quickly search for and book flights. So even though online travel agencies haven't completely decimated the conventional travel agency industry, they have established a viable and convenient alternative to booking vacations, business trips, and other travel plans.
Book your flight from home with cFares. cFares has the cheap flights and travel deals you need to fly for less. Discover what it's like to travel for less with cFares. CFares urges that now you can become their member today today and start saving.

Life Still Exists in the Brick-and-Mortars

Conventional travel agencies still command a large portion of the travel booking industry. Their face-to-face service is what keeps them in business and, depending on the needs of the traveler, a more realistic solution to booking travel arrangements. When you book your travel plans through a brick-and-mortar travel agency, you're working with real people and if you're a frequent traveler, it's nice to have a "favored agent" to turn to for travel information and advice. With an online travel agency, you're simply interacting with a virtual interface that allows you to search for and book your own travel plans without ever speaking with a live person. Many people prefer face-to-face interaction and would never even dream about using a travel website to book their travel plans. There is still something to be said about personal service and the conventional travel agencies are capitalizing on it by offering personalized services and conveniences to travelers.

So Where do We Go from Here?

As you can see, there are benefits and disadvantage to both conventional and online travel agencies. Each one offers its own experience and features that make it unique from the other and in favor with different people. When it comes to selecting the best option for you, you merely need to ask yourself "What am I looking for in a travel agency?" The best way to answer this question is to check out a few online travel agencies, compare them to some brick-and-mortars, and see which ones have the savings, products, and services you desire.

If you want to book your flight online and don't want to pay an outrageous amount on airfare, become a cFares member today and find the flights you need for less.

Flourishing Tourism and Its New Prospects in Nepal

In Nepal the tourist season is approaching. The flow of tourists has been steadily increasing in number since last year. Kathmandu’s five-star hotels are busy in bookings of rooms for the forthcoming season which is usually started from October. The hoteliers have already indicated that the room rates could jump by as much 75 percent during their peak season. As they mention, some hotels have already sold out their rooms even for August.

In 2007, Nepal experienced a record arrival of 526,000 tourists. But the tourism sector remained cool watching the fast-moving political happenings here and the closure of Tibet for the foreigners. The hotel entrepreneurs mentioned that the current political situation seems favourable for the growth in the sector. In the meantime, the country also proved itself mature in dealing with the political events like elections and the peaceful exit of the monarchy. This has given out a very strong and positive message about Nepal in the global tourism market. This is favouring the country to become it a major attraction in the eyes of tourists and foreign entrepreneurs engaged and interested in tourism sector. With the prospects of booming business, many hotels are renovating rooms, and expanding to better cater to the growing number of expected tourists.

As the tourism has become a very promising sector in Nepal, there are possibilities of establishing new hotels and travel companies which support each other. Along with the conventional concepts, new ideas and innovations have to come into place for the growth and survival of the sector business. And so is true in the tourism sector in Nepal. Though, the traditional packages offer the tourists with some sort of varying range of paying capacity, there still seems lacking the innovation incorporated with quality based facilities, packages and services. New prospects of businesses equipped with appropriate standard of facilities and quality based services are expected to have very good horizons of earning. Obviously, this should be done through introduction of innovative products and packages with application of global networking tools and techniques.
